I add one to a project (Add To Project -> Database -> Select MSSQLServerDatabase...) and fill in the fields accordingly and I keep getting a "Could Not Connect To Database". I assure the information entered is correct, as I'm able to load up SQL Management Studio just find with the same information given and access/modify what I need. Any ideas on what may be going on, or if it's a compatibility issue? EDIT: Using with RealStudio 2012r2 for Windows. _________________ Respectfully, Eric Brown http://www.facebook.com/ericdbrown Top simulanics Post subject: Re: MSSQL 2012?Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2013 9:41 pm Joined: Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:10 am Posts: 970 Location: Boiling Springs, SC edb wrote:I can't for the life of me get RealStudio to connect to a MSSQL 2012 server (local). Are you sure you didn't select MySQLServerDatabase? They both use different ports... MySQL = 3306 MSSQL = 1433 I had same issue once..not even thinking selected the wrong db type..check the port to make sure it's using 1433 for MSSQL _________________ Matthew A. Once/if I figure it out, I'll post an update... until then any other suggestions are highly appreciated. About to pull my hair out here on possibilities (and if you were able to see my hairline, it's a precious commodity). _________________ Respectfully, Eric Brown http://www.facebook.com/ericdbrown Top edb Post subject: Re: MSSQL 2012?Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 12:15 am Joined: Sun Dec 10, 2006 7:57 am Posts: 107 Location: Addison, Texas Alright, I tried creating an instance of a MSSQLServerdatabase programmatically, using code, and get the following error: "SQL Server Native Client not installed. Download the 'SQL Server Feature Pack' from http://www.microsoft.com" Hmmmm.... Seems I'm having the same issues as this older post, located here: http://www.realsoftware.com/listarchive ... 00499.html I'm also running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, using a 64-bit version of MSSQL 2012. The Server Native Client (I actually installed all features, if it matters) is already installed on my system. _________________ Respectfully, Eric Brown http://www.facebook.com/ericdbrown Top jdorsey Post subject: Re: MSSQL 2012?Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 11:59 am Joined: Tue Jan 26, 2010 12:54 pm Posts: 24 Did you install the feature pack separate from the SQLEXPRESS install? I would check that you actually do have it installed. I had the same issue and I use SQLEXPRESS on my system. Installing (or possibly re-installing) the plugin fixed the issue. It's a small download even for an x64 machine. When it came up, I had the option to Modify, Repair or Uninstall (which confirmed that it is installed). I went ahead and selected Modify, but didn't change anything as it was already selected to have everything install by default. Went through the installation again, and still not working. _________________ Respectfully, Eric Brown http://www.facebook.com/ericdbrown Top Bob Coleman Post subject: Re: MSSQL 2012?Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 2:42 pm Joined: Fri Nov 16, 2007 10:18 pm Posts: 169 Location: Portland, OR I've not used MSSQL with RB but I know that accessing 64 bit database drivers with a 32 bit application is often a no go in Windows 7 64 bit. You may need to have the 32 bit drivers installed as well. _________________ Windows: Win7 64bit sp1, Vista 32bit sp2, WinXP 32bit SP3 Linux: RH EL6 Mac: Died last year and took 2 months to notice. Installing the 32-bit driver independently won't work, as it gives a 'this driver is not compatible with your operating system' error. I've tried everything, and I'm now facing the conclusion that I'm just goin' to have to setup an ODBC route via the OS and go that way. Is there anybody here who actually has a 64-bit version of Windows 7 running w/ MSSQL 2012 AND it working with RealStudio? _________________ Respectfully, Eric Brown http://www.facebook.com/ericdbrown Top npalardy Post subject: Re: MSSQL 2012?Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:12 pm Real Software Engineer Joined: Sat Dec 24, 2005 8:18 pm Posts: 7657 Location: Canada, Alberta, Near Red Deer I don't think you can use the 64 bit driver from a 32 bit app Real Studio apps are 32 bit apps _________________ My web site Great White Software RBLibrary.com REALbasic learning Top Sky Stream Post subject: Re: MSSQL 2012?Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:29 pm Joined: Sun Nov 23, 2008 12:27 am Posts: 367 Location: New Jersey In a number of my applications, they are running on win server 2008 r2 (64 bit) and use SQL 2008 standard (64-bit). I am connecting to the DB with ODBC, however you will need to use the 32 bit version. you can easily get to the ODBC admin by launching:C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe HTH _________________ - Rich Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 1 [ 10 posts ] -- Over 1500 classes with 29000 functions in one REALbasic plug-in collection.
