I uploaded the XML file to my website and it works fine to a point. I set the version number to 7.0.0.5 and tested it, it worked as expected. Then I changed it to 7.0.0.8 to see if I get the correct version number as expected and then I tested it again and again and again and I still get 7.0.0.5. Does anyone know why this could be happening ? Has anyone written a little XML routine to make the XML file that gets put on your website ? That would have been a nice addition to the UltraUpdater. I tried to write one but I am not good at all with XML and gave up on it. _________________ iMac 27" (2.8GHz Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB Drive) OS X Lion 10.7.3 and Windows 7 Toshiba Laptop Running Windows 7 & WinXP SP3 REAL Studio Enterprise Edition 2012r1 http://www.theultimatecampgroundlog.com Being rewritten for the Mac Top simulanics Post subject: Re: UltraUpdater Help NeededPosted: Wed Jan 09, 2013 9:45 pm Joined: Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:10 am Posts: 970 Location: Boiling Springs, SC Does your server cache files? If some one could confirm this I would sure appreciate it. I think it is because of the website caching the files. I changed the version number again from 7.0.0.2 to 7.0.0.9 but this time I also changed the file name on the website and then had my program look for that file and it came up with the proper number. I then went back and changed the file name back to what it was originally and the version number went back to 7.0.0.2 so I think it is a caching issue. Can anyone confirm my suspicions. I am on Ipage _________________ iMac 27" (2.8GHz Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB Drive) OS X Lion 10.7.3 and Windows 7 Toshiba Laptop Running Windows 7 & WinXP SP3 REAL Studio Enterprise Edition 2012r1 http://www.theultimatecampgroundlog.com Being rewritten for the Mac Top simulanics Post subject: Re: UltraUpdater Help NeededPosted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 11:17 am Joined: Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:10 am Posts: 970 Location: Boiling Springs, SC I have created the UltraUpdater XML File creator as requested Source Code: http://www.realstudiodevspot.com/demos/ ... LMaker.rbp Screenshot: Hopefully it'll be of use. If needed I can add "auto-upload" support as well. Caching issue: What is your WebHost company? To clear the cache, you may restart the Apache Server or reboot the hosting machine. Apache never cached XML files until recent updates. Here is the documentation for Apache... if you have any questions about the documentation I'll be glad to answer or find a solution for you. Apache Content Cache Documentation: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/caching.html Since XML is the issue...it would be related to the following extension on your server: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mo ... cache.html _________________ Matthew A. It is only half of the original file. The version checker seems to loop through the xml file twice looking for the <App AppName="AppName"> section to act on. I'm not sure why he does it that way but he did. What he does with the first section i'm not sure of. UPDATE TEST.. I changed the Application name to > AppName that he looks for on the second loop but it did not work. I have no idea why he did it that way as all information is the same on both loops execpt for the line > <App AppName="AppName"> The XML file I sent you is what he sends with the UltraUpdater. I did not modify it. You have created the first half of the XML correctly. It does need to ask where to save the file when written. Thanks for your time with this little project. _________________ iMac 27" (2.8GHz Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB Drive) OS X Lion 10.7.3 and Windows 7 Toshiba Laptop Running Windows 7 & WinXP SP3 REAL Studio Enterprise Edition 2012r1 http://www.theultimatecampgroundlog.com Being rewritten for the Mac Top jerryab Post subject: Re: UltraUpdater Help NeededPosted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 4:43 pm Joined: Mon Dec 12, 2011 7:25 pm Posts: 146 Location: Grand Rapids MI Area Hello, simulanics I modified your xml file creator and have it working. Right now I just FTP it up to the website. You will see what I did and it is working great. Still don't know why he did it that way though but it works. _________________ iMac 27" (2.8GHz Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB Drive) OS X Lion 10.7.3 and Windows 7 Toshiba Laptop Running Windows 7 & WinXP SP3 REAL Studio Enterprise Edition 2012r1 http://www.theultimatecampgroundlog.com Being rewritten for the Mac Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 1 [ 10 posts ] -- Over 1500 classes with 29000 functions in one REALbasic plug-in collection.
