What type and brands NAS device works with real basic web? I've read the nas should run glibc 2.4 or higher with fastcgi and preferably run cgi scripts on port 80 Recently I've tried synology 108j, but that didn't work, despite it runs DSM 4.0 Lookin on the web, no manufacturer specifies the glibc version. And where I can search forums, I find people not able to update on synology, qnap, netgear and more. And if it has 2.4 I see people still not being able to update (for other apps), so future compatibility is not certain. To prevent problems, how do I find a proper working NAS for now and if an update later on would be required ? It's not x86 and it has glibc 2.3.x. I've actually been in contact with Synology about this in the past week and according to them they will update glibc in a future version of DSM. But, that might take a while and they had no schedule for it. I currently run the latest beta of DSM 4.2 on my DS1010+ and glibc still isn't updated. It would be great if it could work on those devices! Hope someone figures out how to update glibc "the hard way" _________________ http://www.linkedin.com/in/albinkiland Dev. iMac 27" + 2x22" LG (2.8GHz Intel Core i7, 12GB RAM, 120GB SSD) OS X 10.8 REAL.Studio Web Edition 2011r3 Top p0wn3d Post subject: Re: Supported NAS brand/type ?Posted: Tue Jan 29, 2013 2:44 am Joined: Sun Oct 28, 2012 4:54 am Posts: 144 Location: Herts, UK We have used Buffalo Terastation Series and Openfiler _________________ Real Studio 2012 R2 SysInfo BackTrack Linux/BackBox Linux/Debian Lenny/Windows 7/Windows 8/OpenWRT/OpenBSD Top ScoobyDoo Post subject: Re: Supported NAS brand/type ?Posted: Tue Jan 29, 2013 2:46 am Joined: Tue Jun 03, 2008 5:20 pm Posts: 33 p0wn3d wrote:We have used Buffalo Terastation Series and Openfiler Not any more? But it's the wrong arch (and old glibc) and a bit more ram would have been needed :/ http://www.synology.com/products/product.php?product_name=DS411slim&lang=enu Well well, you can't have it all :'( _________________ http://www.linkedin.com/in/albinkiland Dev. iMac 27" + 2x22" LG (2.8GHz Intel Core i7, 12GB RAM, 120GB SSD) OS X 10.8 REAL.Studio Web Edition 2011r3 Top p0wn3d Post subject: Re: Supported NAS brand/type ?Posted: Tue Jan 29, 2013 2:52 am Joined: Sun Oct 28, 2012 4:54 am Posts: 144 Location: Herts, UK Quote:Not any more? Was it updatable ? Yes we still use both and they are updatable. With Openfiler you will need use the conary update feature to get 32bit libs installed as I believe they were removed recently. I am not sure if RB still compiles for PowerPC which the synology DS108j is. If it does then you could install a NAS/DAS PowerPC operating system (gentoo based for example) _________________ Real Studio 2012 R2 SysInfo BackTrack Linux/BackBox Linux/Debian Lenny/Windows 7/Windows 8/OpenWRT/OpenBSD Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 1 [ 6 posts ]
