Location: San Diego, CA Does anyone have a RealStudio
implementation of a color reduction (octree?) algorithm

I want to be able to encapsulate it to a single call

something like

new_pic=reduce_colors(old_pic, new_color_cnt)

where new_pic and old_pic are picture objects, and new_color_cnt is [4, 16,
256]

this is to REDUCE the # of colors... not necessaily the bit depth (it will
remain a 32bit picture)

I have code to do this for GRAYSCALE.... but I need it for COLOR as well

I can "fake" then 256 level, by saving it as a GIF, and reloading it again...
but I want to avoid doing that, plus I need 4 color and 16 color modes as well

My application can now "do" these things.. but with a call to QTExporter
(requiring the user to interact with ITS dialog), and QTExporter is deprecated
in RealStudio making it hard to move this code into the future..
