Posts: 270 I've been wondering about this for a fair while now...

I have a audio based program which runs on windows and mac. There's a lot of
noteplayer action going on.

Everything works well as far as results... however...

When noteplayer is used on mac, straight after it starts playing, it drops
drastically in volume. It's almost as if there is some sort of compression
effect going on.
I've tried this out on two macs and it's exactly the same result.
It doesn't happen in Windows - that volume is loud and proud.

I heard somewhere that noteplayer in Mac uses quicktime while on Windows it
uses Windows media player.

So it seems as if Quicktime is doing something to the audio - like adding a
compression effect to it.
However, if I play a midi file via quicktime player, there's no problems (apart
from a violent blurt of noise occasionally as it starts playing).

Also, I usually have 2 noteplayers going on at once (One using some kind of
steel drum to play the metronome clicks and the other noteplayer playing actual
notes)

Anybody else had the same experience?
Anybody come up with a way to fix this?
