Posts: 420 Is there a way to get a list of files in a folder
based on a file spec? For example, I want to retrieve all files from a network
folder that match this specification:

F:\DATAFOLDER\COMPANY.*

I've been parsing the files using the folder.count routine that everyone talks
about, but I've noticed that if there are a lot of files in a folder and the
folder is on a network, it takes considerable more time to parse. Anyway to
speed this up.

I'm coming from Visual Foxpro and they had a very nice high level function that
would return a file in a folder based on a file specification using wildcards.
You could then use the same function again with a parameter and it would fine
the next file with that matches the file spec.

It has to be cross platform (Mac and Win).

cross-platform techniques to do this, though there are platform-specific
techniques that are quite fast.
