Posts: 1 I have one program I want to write and distribute (give
away) to my students...it recognizes bubbles on the scantron sheet and enters
the data automatically in an excel spreadsheet.

So the personal edition is right for me, or maybe the academic version.

But it's not clear to me whether I can build and distribute this little
application to my students using the Personal Edition. At the compare editions
link (http://www.realsoftware.com/realstudio/compare.php) it would appear that
the personal edition cannot "Deploy on Mac OS X, Windows, Linux." It would
appear that the personal edition is just for programs on the PC where it's
installed.

Is that true?

Posts: 416 Right now, with the personal edition you can only
develop on one platform and deploy to that platform.

But, the licensing scheme is about to change and I BELIEVE you will be entitled
to develop and deploy on and to any platform with the entry type of paid
license.

There will be a new type of license too, free, with which you will be allowed
to run your applications from the IDE without any other limitation. So, if your
students can install the IDE, you could have them run your application at zero
cost (not even your own license, I mean).
