Deep breath. Okay, seriously, thatâs a little dramatic (yaâ think!?) but what might be described as the boldest decision the company has ever made. Real Software has changed its name to Xojo, Inc. and Real Studio (formerly REALbasic) will now be named Xojo. I think this move is good and bad and Iâll explain both. They will get my thanks by way of my subscription being renewed, if I think they deserve it. The product and feature set has little to do with my current refusal to pay any more money to Real Software, Xojo Inc or whatever other moniker they choose to use. I will be very interested to see how Xojo treat existing and recently lapsed subscribers during the transition. I would like Xojo to be a new beginning in the way Real Software / Xojo Inc do business with existing developers, but it could just be yet another stunt to secure a short term increase in profit margin. _________________ Yes it's me in the avatar Top damon Post subject: Re: where has realsoftware.com gone?Posted: Sun Apr 28, 2013 3:04 am Joined: Mon Oct 17, 2005 6:43 pm Posts: 119 still not up. I assume doing an update while the conference is on is not a good idea, if planned at all. If you look at our blog, you'll see we're working at migrating to a new set of servers because our current one was compromised in a non-recoverable way. Let's put it this way, if you think deploying a WE app is hard, you haven't seen anything yet. I feel like we're real close to getting the website back up, but other services will come and go throughout the week. Understand though, we're not even sure we have a problem on the current server. There is a possibility, but no proof. Given that the server accepts credit cards, the decision was made that the mere possibility of a deep hack (a root kit) represents a risk the company was not willing to accept. The downtime, while damaging to us, is not as bad as potentially leaking credit card data. _________________ Thom McGrath - @tekcor Web Framework Architect, Real Software, Inc.
