apps?

I'm looking into a VPS plan and I have a choice of :

Unbuntu 11.10 32 bit (or 64bit).

or

Unbuntu 12.04 64bit. I assume I'd have to install the 32bit libraries for WE
or any RS app to run?

Or do you guys prefer another Linux distro?

Thanks.

Location: Jönköping, Sweden Our WE VPS has Ubuntu 12.4 64bit +
ia32bit libs. Works just great for WE app hosing
32bit Libs needs to be installed on all 64bit systems for RS apps to run on
Linux.

Thanks for the reply Akiland

What CPU and how many cores are you running?
How much ram is your WE app using and how many users can it concurrently
support?

I'm really trying to digest as much information about WE and it's abilities on
various VPS configurations.

That might help me determine different VPS plans.

Also, if I need to how would I install the ia32bit libs on Unbuntu 12.4?

Thank you

2 x Intel Xeon
CPU E5540
2.53Ghz
1GB RAM

On my quick and not so scientific tests my curent project named Cobalt (Stand
Alone build) it uses aprox. 32MB RAM and it seems to increase with about ~1.5MB
per session so I guess it will handle as many sessions it can until you
eventually run out of available RAM
CPU usage don't seem to be an issue. It uses somewhere between 1-7% with small
spikes now and then. Though my app don't do that much yet, just some SQL
inserts/updates, sending Push messages to iOS and some emails

Build with 2011r3

regarding ia32.
It's simple to install.
Just make your way in to the VPS using SSH and install ia32libs using apt-get
If I'm not mistaken, just run this command:
apt-get install ia32-libs
or possibly:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
(will ask for root password)

Nice, thanks !

I will probably not be buying WE anytime soon but I will probably get my VPS
soon (by the end of the month.)

I figure I'm going to be needing it because of the added bandwidth and the
ability to run my compiled desktop apps in addition to WE if I ever get it.

Btw, can RS desktop receive both http and https incoming queries?
I seem to remember https socket may not be able to listen ?

To get an RS desktop app running on Unbuntu 12 with the 32bit lib is anything
required that I might miss?

Thanks.

We'll have to see if someone else can chime in on those two
