The plan is to have a mixture of VB6 and RealBasic subroutines. The question is: which is easier -to call RB subroutines from VB6 code, or to call VB6 subroutines from RB code? We welcome practical advice about how to proceed _________________ Mike Linacre Top timhare Post subject: Re: Call VB6 from RealBasic or RealBasic from VB6 - easier?Posted: Sat May 04, 2013 11:57 pm Joined: Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:21 pm Posts: 12295 Location: Portland, OR USA About the only way to call RB code from VB6 is to compile the RB code into a console app .EXE and call it with a Shell, passing it command line parameters and reading back Print lines from the RB console app. You can compile the VB6 routines into a .DLL and call them directly from RB via Declares. So I'd say it's easier to call VB6 routines from RB. On another project, we are already Shelling to RB from FORTRAN using disk work files to pass data back and forth. We have also tried using VB6 .DLLs called from FORTRAN. They work, but are a challenge. So on this project we will probably go the Shell-to-RB route. _________________ Mike Linacre Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 1 [ 3 posts ] -- Over 1500 classes with 29000 functions in one REALbasic plug-in collection.
