It is very fast! Good job, Xojo Inc.! _________________ Windows 8 x64 Windows XP Pro SP3 Ubuntu 11.04 via Virtual Box RS Enterprise 2012r1.1 Programming Tutorials & Free Projects: http://www.JasonTheAdams.com "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried." - G.K. It is very fast! Good job, Xojo Inc.! It is significantly faster here too. I wonder what server specs and hosting conditions the forum is using now? I'd guess a mac mini without other customers although I expect they're running other services like the main site, the new forum, etc. Btw, this forum is (still) php based so you can see the speed of php. Good. Is the new forum going to be php based, WE based or something else? Is only one WE app allowed on the VPS or can a user have many for the included price? We like to make a WE forum, but it's a matter of resources. A Xojo Cloud VPS is configured for only WE apps. They don't have FTP, PHP, Python, etc. they are for WE apps only. _________________ Thom McGrath - @tekcor Web Framework Architect, Real Software, Inc. Do you mean the WE app wouldn't be able to handle the expected load of users? Do you mean the WE app would take up too many server resources on the VPS? Is it only one? Does it depend on how much load his WE app uses? Thanks. No, I mean human resources. We have a lot to do, and writing our own forum software is not high on the priority list. We've had some fantastic ideas, but trust me when I say our ideas always exceed our manpower. J.Sh3ppard wrote:So how many WE apps can a customer run for the $50 a month? Is it only one? Does it depend on how much load his WE app uses? No artificial restriction. You can rent a server and put anywhere between 0 and â apps on it. Of course, you'll run out of RAM, CPU, and/or HD space long before you hit that â. It's up to you to decide if your apps require a more powerful server. _________________ Thom McGrath - @tekcor Web Framework Architect, Real Software, Inc. The IDE does it using a custom API. You simply press the build button, and the IDE handles the rest. _________________ Thom McGrath - @tekcor Web Framework Architect, Real Software, Inc. One thing that IS not faster, as a matter of fact MUCH MUCH slower is email notification about updates to subscribed topics. Before I would get an email within an hour of someone responding to a subscribed post. Now, that delay is close to 12 hours...... _________________ Dave Sisemore iMac I7[2012], OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 RB2012r2.1 Note : I am not interested in any solutions that involve custom Plug-ins of any kind Top Thom McGrath Post subject: Re: New Forum ServerPosted: Fri May 10, 2013 7:35 pm Site Admin Joined: Tue May 06, 2008 1:07 pm Posts: 1448 Location: NotEvenOnTheMap, CT DaveS wrote:While this forum may be faster than the old one... Before I would get an email within an hour of someone responding to a subscribed post. Now, that delay is close to 12 hours...... That is temporary. The server's firewall was allowing e-mail out, but was blocking DNS lookups, so they couldn't actually get sent. Emails have been queuing up for the past week. Greg fixed the firewall today, and the backlog of emails are flowing out. Once the queue is empty, everything should return to normal. _________________ Thom McGrath - @tekcor Web Framework Architect, Real Software, Inc. Was confused when I started going thru the emails and thinking..."I've already read that post...and that one, and that one"' FYI.... I got the email about your response TWO MINUTES after you posted it... so I think the queue is clean _________________ Dave Sisemore iMac I7[2012], OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 RB2012r2.1 Note : I am not interested in any solutions that involve custom Plug-ins of any kind Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 1 [ 12 posts ]
