I then do a SELECT DISTINCT from a table and add any additional categories that are found in the table. Now the question. If the user adds a new category (not in the predefined or DISTINCT groups), that new entry does not show when another record is updated. How do I tell if the entry is an addition that was not already in the list versus a selection of one of the existing categories.
