One thing that can cause this kind of problem is a flaky NIC, switch or hub. This is especially true on Terminal Services, but can happen with "fat clients" as well. We experienced many such difficulties with 6.5++ until we got our network humming along properly with good, reliable gear. Then, suddenly, all those "R:Base" problems stopped.

John, I just started looking for a reproducible case in ConComp. So far, all I can say is I've seen it happen when I use EDIT USING ManyToManyTabForm MDI, but not without the MDI. Try that, make a few changes to a couple of different tables, and then save. It's not consistent, but it does happen.
I'll continue to look for a guaranteed reproducible case. -- Larry
