I have a question for the developers out there. First, a little history.
I am developing an application for our schools nationwide. Although
the base application is the same for all the schools, some of the
schools require customization due to geographic locations or operational
issues.
Therefore, what is the best way to manage these changes? It would be
quite a task to maintain a separate application for each school. What
about general updates to everyone's application? What is the best way to
approach these updates?
Thanks in advance for any feedback
Joel,
A few suggestions:
01. Create a master update for all users and allow the
access or feature based on Region/User (directly
related to database/application design).
Take full advantage of PROPERTY/GETPROPERTY commands
to secure and customize your application accordingly.
02. With every update you also need to make sure that
you are providing your end-users with the latest
updates of RBG7.1 or Runtime or R:Compiler (depending
on your application distribution method).
03. Take a look at R:Capture (the first RBG7 vertical
market application).
04. Take a look at R:Docs application and distribution
process.
If you need full details, feel free to ask.
Very Best R:egards,
Razzak.
