(I did solve the problem, see my earlier follow up post). Actually, I was using these variables to REPLACE a couple of DBCalc components. The reason is that I need to compute and display an efficiency ratio in the total line, and there's no way (that I can see) to extract the SUM information from the DBCalcs to use in that footer-level calculation. -- Larry
