Have you tried the CSV option instead, followed by a LAUNCH?
I've found creating reports to XLS is very iffy on the formatting. And, my controllers (aka accountants) just LOVE those CSV files ...
I have a nice crosstab report with about 16 columns and 20 or 30 rows. The user is happy with the on-screen and printed appearance of the report.
When they try to print to an Excel spreadheet, however, the results are not good. The numbers do not fall into the correct columns -- they shift around from row to row. This is odd, since the report generator has effectively created an internal spreadsheet to represent the crosstab.
I tried converting all the elements in the crosstab to Courier New and, although the alignment problems were slightly different in the output, the output was not improved.
Are there any printing tips for writing a crosstab report into an Excel spreadsheet? -- Larry
