I've heard that different MS operating systems will stop benefiting, or perhaps even using, memory at different sizes. For the older Win 9x operating systems there was a point at which additional memory would not, in fact, make much difference. I don't know if that applied to file caching for shared files, or just applications running locally on the machine. For the newer operating systems, if there is a maximum beneficial amount of memory, I'll bet it's far more than what you would find in a default configuration. So for older operating systems, adding memory may not make a difference. For newer ones, additional memory would probably help. -- Larry
