In your earlier post, you mentioned that you cannot duplicate that in ConComp sample database. So, what is different about your database or DATE column type? Is the date column INDEXed?
Try PACK INDEX FOR tablename and see what happens.
If it still reveals the same results, then send me that database and I would love to see what else is going on.

What happens when you SORT those dates using the simple SELECT command at the R> prompt:
Example:
SELECT datecolumn FROM TableViewName WHERE ... + ORDER BY datecolumn ASC
OR
SELECT datecolumn FROM TableViewName WHERE ... + ORDER BY datecolumn DESC
Does that command display the dates accordingly?
On a side note, what are your database DATE FORMAT, SEQUENCE, YEAR and CENTURY SETtings?
Try the following settings and see what you get.
DATE FORMAT: MM/DD/YYYY DATE SEQUENCE: MMDDYY Century Threshold YEAR: 30 Default CENTURY: 19
