Thanks, Bernie, but that's what it already is - an "on
exit" EEP from a variable on the form. However, I'll change the EEP to run from
a column and see if that makes any difference.
Regards,
Alastair.

Alastair,
Put your algorithm that converts numbers to words
into an eep.
put that eep into your form
variable.
recalc variables
I haven't tried that, but I think it would
work.

Subject: [RBG7-L] - Re: Scrolling
Regions and displaying variables...
Thanks Bernie & Emmitt - perhaps a little more
explanation is needed if it's not straightforward <g>:
I've simplified this to try to make the concept
easier...
The form has 2 tables with the scrolling region on
the sub-table with a simple code number link.
The data in the sub-table contains text separated by
a comma along these lines:
id001 1,2,3
id002 4,5,6
id003 7,8,9 etc.
The EEP/variable looks up equivalent values (using
SSUB) for the text so that "1,2,3" is returned as "one, two, three" and
"4,5,6" is returned as "four, five, six", etc.
All this works fine - I get the substituted text
returned to my variable.
What I want is for the rows in the Scrolling Region
to show:
one, two, three
four, five, six
seven, eight, nine
rather than:
four, five, six
four, five, six
four, five, six - or whichever row is
active.
I tried earlier today setting the variable up
as:
(ColName & .vSRvar)
but it didn't seem to help although that is the sort
of thing that's done in the ConComp example - but it's a concatenation of
columns rather than an "external" variable used there.
Anybody any ideas?
Regards,
Alastair.

Alastair,
How do you get the value for vSRvar in the
first place?
Maybe that's the _expression_ you need in the
form or an eep.

Alastair,
The way you have defined the variable it
will evaluate the same for all rows in the region. If you wish it to
be different for different rows you need to somehow tie it to the data in
the row.
I have a
scrolling region on a form with a variable that is currently defined in
this style: vSRvar =
.vSRvar When the form is run
every row shows the same value for the
variable. How do I define it so
that each row either shows a value or only the active row shows a
value? I've looked at the only
example that I could find - the form in ConComp - which seems to imply
that there needs to be some link to a column in the row because the
variables there all contain a
column. Regards, Alastair. ---------------------------------- A D B Burr, St.
