Charlie,
The description in Rdocs says that the LISTOPEN 'FALSE' "Will close
opened drop-down list.", so you may want to check with Razzak to see if
that's a documentation error or report it as a bug. In the meantime -
how 'bout PROPERTY <Component ID> DROPDOWNCOUNT '0'. Also, once you tab
out of a field the combo box closes, so maybe you can put a SKIP TO or
something rather than using the property command.

That was the first command that I tried and it didn't seem to work so I
tried the other two commands and no luck with them either.

This one is new to me then - looking at R:DOCS, what about

PROPERTY <component ID) LISTOPEN 'FALSE' ?

I just tried PROPERTY TableList Width '0' but it sets the whole combobox
to width 0.

I would like for the combobox to look the way it does before the user
does the initial click, i.e. there is a field and the down button but no
list.
Basically, I have another form open when the user clicks on the
combobox. I would like for that other form to look like as much as part
of the combobox ,as possible, instead of a different object.

Have you tried setting the WIDTH to 0?

Is there away to close a combobox via a property command?

I have tried:
PROPERTY <ComponentID> ITEMHEIGHT '0'
PROPERTY <ComponentID> DROPDOWNCOUNT '0'
PROPERTY <ComponentID> LISTOPEN 'FALSE'

None of which seems to close the combobox.
