I know that's the way it is, but wouldn't it be cool if a screen whose ONLY function is to be MENU with choices to select would just BE there IN the menu ready to go without an extra key stroke or click? Wouldn't that make more sense and be more user friendly?
Besides, in Word or Excel you have a CHOICE when you start - you can go to the menu or just start typing. Here the ONLY function of the screen is to select an option!
