[RBG7-L] - "You Cannot Insert This Control in a Scrolling Region"

This is more of a general question with regard to processing lots of rows 
of data in a scrolling region. In the old days (6.5++) the user would move 
up/down through the rows with F7/F8 (or up/down row buttons) and enter one 
of three characters. Data entry speed/ease is important. A radio group, 
drop-down box, etc., would be great but not available in a scrolling region.

I'm tempted to popup a form where they can edit whatever they want at the 
single row level, but that would be more mouse clicks and/or key strokes. 
Any suggestions appreciated.

Enjoyed looking at the presentations on the Fall Conf CD, but didn't see 
anything in this area.
