If all your date inputs are four digit years, this is all academic. Only if your users enter two digit years is any of this critical. BTW, I see you have the same typing problems as I do: 1/1/30 would be 2030...
As to carbs, etc. I remember when the foot shift on mototcycles was on the right side. I refuse to even move a new bike, because my bike (an Enfield) was "one up, four down" meaning that downshifts were a lift up on the lever and a fast upshift was done by stamping fast on the shift lever ... which is now the rear wheel brake ... the first time I forgot to work with the other foot could prove interesting ...
