Larry I don't recall if this works in RBDos. Use CONTINUE at the end of the write statement. It surpresses the carriage return. WRITE 'whatever' CONTINUE Buddy

Subject: [RBG7-L] - Write variable to file without return
I'm trying to write a variable to a file for use in a PLAYBACK
statement. I
don't want the carriage return character. I recall there is a way to
do this,
but I don't remember how.
(RBDos, obviously)
