I have a jump drive (256M) that I normally use as a quick way to transport files.
I am used to plugging it in and explorer popping up to open a folder to use it. Or I can go to 'My Computer' and access it there.
However, I plugged it in this morning to a workstation on a network running XP-Pro SP2 and got nothing. I do have the little icon in the tray to safely remove it but it didn't open a window or is it available in 'My Computer'.
Ideas?
Jan,
While the Jump Drive is still plugged in:
01. Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management
02. Under Computer Management Console:
Storage | Disk Management
Notice the "Jump Drive" listed as one of the Disk x (Online)
Right-Click on that drive | Change Drive Letter ...
Assign a unique Drive Letter that will not conflict with network drives ...
Click on [OK] button to save these settings.
From here on your XP-Pro will always remember that ...
That's all there is to it!
Very Best R:egards,
Razzak.
