Frank:
This is what you do:
In the Pop-up Menus window
Table/View Name: select the table from where you want the values to come
from
Pop-up type: select whether you want to display a single column, more that
one column or an expression. If you select single column, the return column
will be displayed by default; if you select multi column, you will be
prompted to select more than one column.
Column returned: the column, which value you want in the field. The column
that is returned does not have to be the same as the column(s) displayed.
For example you may want to display an employee last name and first name but
you want to return the SSN; so, when you click on the employee name in the
pop up, the Social security number for that employee will be displayed in
the DBEdit field.
Menu Caption: Whatever you want to display above the values
Number of Lines: How many lines you want to display
If you want to display unique values for a column, then, on the big box
under WHERE Clause type:
GROUP BY your_column_name
Notice that there is no "WHERE" typed. For example if you want to display
the state code from a file in which the state_code is repeated and you want
to display just one occurrence of each, the you would type:
GROUP BY state_code
This will display just one line for each state_code and will also sort the
data by state_code.
I hope this is what you are looking for; if not, let us know and we will
make sure that you get your pop-up going...

I do not know why this has me so confused but it does. So what would I put
in the pop up type , menu values and where clause to get the values to come
up distinct?

Fran

Well I'll be a.... I've always created a view and based my popup on the
view. It didn't occur to me until just now to do a group by right in
the popup where clause. I don't know why, I guess I just got used to
doing that.
...something new everyday

Check you SELECT syntax, and add the GROUP BY clause to your choose
popup

WHERE <if any> GROUP BY <column> ORDER BY <if different than the group
by>
