I was really just trying to find the key combination to load the built-in editor from a variable rich text like you get when you double-click a db rich text.

It doesn't have that functionality, but you can use (as I do in many different
locations) the variable [Rich]Editor from the demo available at the
http://www.rbase.com/rbg7updates/checkforpassword.php?file=RichEditDemoAndTutorial.zip

The Editor needs a few updates to make it consistent with the current status of
Rb7.x, but it will give you a headstart on rolling your own. I have a plugin
to change the color of the text in the variable richeditor and a couple other
improvements that haven't been finalized and put up there to update it. I have
been busy, but that is on my list of ToDos'.
