Larry:
CSV is what I was using before, but the XLSW (or XLS) option sounded better
as you can label the worksheet tab and so on...oh well, I might have to go
back to CSV...

As a workaround, have you tried CSV?  I think most installations of Excel
treat
CSV as a native format (that is, if you "launch" a CSV file either from
R:Base
or from Windows, Excel will open it).
