Thanks for your reply, I worked out the ddbox show value prob by using dbedit's.  However another prob, I'm trying to execute commands inside my forms, either on exit  or insert - can you explain the custom forms action?

Deb, can you clarify what you mean by "keep". Do you mean store in a variable in addition the column?  Since these are DB objects, are you having a problem with the values not being stored in the columns in question when you leave the form?
