Dennis,

In reviewing RRBYW9 (and there is certainly a lot of clever stuff there)
I was looking for some of the housekeeping items. In the code below and
the menu choices:

1. Main Menu operation

LABEL Start
...
EDIT USING RRBYW9MainMenu
LABEL Done
...

There is no Quit To command_file every time the user returns to the
Main Menu to "free up resources"? No longer a worry in 7.x?

Much better Resource and I/O handling in R:BASE 7.x and V-8 "Turbo"
for Windows.

Running R:BASE Your Way! (Part 9) is simply another sample to
demonstrate the use of such resources as well as form-based menu
applications.

Have you looked at all options?

2. Each form SETS and CLEARS those variables needed for that
form/function. Global variables, Configurations Settings, etc.,
seem to be at a minimum?

To keep things simple and clean.

3. I couldn't find housekeeping items such as deleting all
the $$$ files?

Try the following technique:

SET ERROR 2262 OFF
ERASE *.$$$
SET ERROR 2262 ON

4. Proper way to Exit? When you choose Exit, the app runs:
CLOSEWINDOW
EXIT
RETURN

That is an example of supporting "EXIT" command in an EEP.

But you can also just close (click on "X"). EXIT in something
other than an external command file use to be a no-no. Seems
fine now, thanks.

You are welcome!

Shall I say that the "EXIT" command in an EEP was supported
exclusively for Razzak's Running R:BASE Your Way! sample
applications and more ... <g>.

Now you can "Disable" [x] and [Alt+F4] options to control
the exit procedures of your form-based applications.

R:Docs application is an example of such functionality.

5. LBNL, the Reload choice is "Under Construction". What is
your recommendation in that regard?

All possible Database Maintenance options are implemented in RRBYW12 and RRBYW13 (R:Chautauqua Editions) http://www.RChautauqua.com

Some developers just run Unload and then Input the BKP file
but I always thought that was normally if your system tables
were damaged.

Take a look at the "On Demand Backup in a Multi-User Environment!" http://www.razzak.com/sampleapplications

Enjoy and make sure to have fun!

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
