Subject: [RBG7-L] - Pocket Rbase question

To Pocket Rbase users!

I have an application that scans barcodes with a handheld and retrieves information about product.  So far, this application works well in that the user can select to either scan a UPC code or manually enter a part number and the system will retrieve the information.  (This little unit is working really slick!)

My problem however, is that when one scans a barcode or enters a part number that is not in the data base, I want to display an error screen providing an appropriate message.  Currently if this is done, the system will display either the first record in the database or one that starts with the same characters. (A potentially dangerous situation)  So I ask the Pocket Rbase users if anyone has done this and what method they are using.  The control that I am currently using is a RECORD \Search command button.  The result needed is that when a user enters a part number or scans a code, if the exact match is not found an error screen is displayed.

(Some time ago there was a user in Australia using a lot of Pocket Rbase, although his name escapes me at the present. Perhaps he would be so kind to assist?)

Thanks for the assistance!

-Bob
