[RBG7-L] - GetProperty TEXTVALUE problem

Please could somebody give me the definite method for getting the value of a DBEdit value using GETPROPERTY?   I've tried defining the variable for the result first, not defining it, using quotes around the name - every variation that I can think of but I can't get it to work.
