Dennis:

I learnt a long time ago that printers vary widely in the size of the printable area with the older printers requiring more margin and the newer one less; some will even print all the way to the edge. As a matter of practice, I have standardize in leaving at least 0.5 in. for all margins (left, right, top, bottom); for report that will be bound, I try to leave 1 in. on the side where the binding will go (left on portrait, top on landscape). This approach has worked well and I have not had the problems that you have encountered in a long time.

Thanks Dawn/Emmitt,

I'll get the printer make/model and see if there is a workaround that folks are using, or modify the length of the report(s).

Dennis,

Some of the less expensive HP printers would not give you a clear way to set the page length (no menu interface on the printer).  For instance, printing PAGEMODE reports that assumed 65 lpp would flow over to another page on some of the personal lasers since they set the lpp default to 55.  I had to dig into the programming manuals to find the string to set the default page length and create a text file to send to the printer to set this value.

This shouldn't be an issue with Windows reports, but you never know.

PITA.

Reports are working fine in RB7.1 except at some plants with various flavors of HP printers.

Examples:
1. Break footer prints fine on all but a few printers. On some it's pushed to page 2.
2. Left margin of 1/4 inch truncates data on some printers.

In both of above, the report is fine when output to screen.

TIA,

Dennis
