Dan, That's why I answered that Razzak had me believe that it was a future consideration but not right now as 7.5 and all the other goodies need to be out to satisfy our immediate needs.

You can download the 64 bit beta from microsoft's website.  Just be warned that all the device drivers are not out yet.

The 64 bit processor will run 32 bit apps. But I was wondering if there is an R:Base 64 bit app coming out soon??

Is there a 64-bit XP out to the public?

Dan, I questioned our mighty leader on that a while ago and it was an "in the future" issue.  I have had R:Base running on a 64-bit machines for a while.  It works well on XP-64 Bit but with my databases being personal and therefore small I couldn't say it really is a bunch faster.  When it gets re-compiled in  a true 64 bit version I'm certain it will be faster.  By the way, use 1gig memory to get the best of the 64-bit Windows.

Has anybody heard of a 64 bit edition of R:Base??

AMD has had their 64 bit cpu out for about a year and Intel has announced their 64 desktop cpu. With Intel coming out with their 64 bit desktop cpus I figure everyone will jump on the bandwagon to get their 64 bit applications out.
