Our network administrators gave me temporary admin rights until I had
entered the license key. Once the license key had been entered by an
administrator on each computer, they took away the admin rights and it still
worked. I think XP works differently though. Using XP I had to have some
kind of admin rights to run R:Base.

Subject: [RBG7-L] - Rb7.1 License install & Win2K Permissions

As I prepare to go live with our conversion to 7.1 I went to install RB7.1
onto the workstations, but have run into a problem.

In order to install the program, and the latest update, I was logged into
the terminal as the administrator. When I restarted and logged in under the
user, I started RB 7.1 and was prompted for the License key. When I entered
it, I get a Program error, R:Base has generated errors and has to be closed.
If I start the program using the "Run As : Administrator" option and enter
the license key, it accepts the license key and works no problem. but then
if I close and try to open the program (under the user) I get prompted for
the license key and when I enter it, the program crashes. Starting it again
using the "Run As : Administrator" takes me right into the program with the
license installed.

This is actually the first time I have installed 7.1 on a machine where the
user is not part of the administrator group. So my question is, how do I
get the license to stick on a user that has no admin permissions.

(Using Update 81_04292005 All Terminals are Windows 2000 Professional.)

Thanks
