Thanks Javier

If I used LP5 somewhere it was a typo.

The mapping is correct (checked about 5 times and double cheked, so 99,98% sure) and by NET USE I get (In Swedish)

The LPT5 is on my laptop using IPnumber and a second printer instead of \\KFS11\HP4200 as in previus mail. The reason laptop its different then desktop is it simplifies things when I work over a VPN.

It is the same code running of older PC as on new PC.

OLD PC works NEW PC does not!

The only thing I can guess on is that my OLD pc has got service pack 2 of XP as an update, the new ones where factory installed service pack 2.

Somehow I believe there is service somewhere no longer started as a default, but If that is the case I cant figure out where.

Gunnar:

How are you capturing your printer port? Are you using “NET USE…” or using the printer properties or both? Also, verify that you are using the correct mapped port name, i.e. LPT5 instead of LP5 (been there, done that…)

After you capture/map your printer, try

OUTPUT LPT5 *( or whatever your printer port is)

WRITE ‘test”

NEWPAGE

OUTPUT SCREEN

If it print correctly then your capture/mapping is working, if not, then you need to recheck the mapping/redirection.

Help !

Sorry to ask help I think is more XP related then RBase

Running RBDOS7 on XP I have now for a long time made my reports to a listfile and then copy to printer by using something  :

Out Mylist.txt

Print Myreport

Out terminal

ZIP CMD /C COPY Mylist.txt LPT5     *(or whatever I happened to map my network printer \\KFS11\HP4200 to)

On 2 brand new ( 5 days and. 2 hours)  PC that does not work any longer,

If I open a command window on this new PC and type

Copy Mylist.txt LPT5      *( It hangs  )

If I type:

Copy Mylist.txt \\KFS11\HP200     *( It copies to printer)

If I try that working method from  Inside rbase using

ZIP CMD /C COPY Mylist.txt ‘\\KFS11\HP4200’           *( It works  )

Do I need to use that syntax from now on or can someone tell me how to change my XP Configuration on only these 2 brand new PC so they behave as my older PC do?

I can ADD that this ‘New’  (or whatever I should call it) syntax  works from older XP as well

Part by part this will in due time be rplaced by 7.5 Windows, but I guess some DOS part will remain for some time.
