Unless I were to go to a fixed-width font, I wouldn't know which detail records would take up one line, and which would take up two. So I would never know if I needed 15 lines for the first page, 20, 21, or whatever.
I do use this technique at another client where the details are always exactly one line long. There I compute Page X of Y numbers in 6.5 for Windows. -- Larry
