There two things to remember: firstly, the DOS copy command seems to like a
maximum of, I think, 72 characters in the command. Why it's not 80 I have no
idea but maybe somebody else does.

In the early days when we used 80 col punch cards for programming, cols 73 - 80 where used for sequence numbers. In case you dropped your programming deck, just put it back in the sorting machine.

In the modern world we must still think we can drop our programs (probably right into the bit bucket)
