I’m having a small problem with the great feature
“SuppressRepeatedValues” in reports.
Consider this data of repairs on one vehicle in a fleet:
VRDate Vendor Work Cost
08/01/05 Joe’s Garage Oil and Lub $20.10
08/01/05 Joe’s Garage Change Spark Plugs $50.00
09/01/05 Joe’s Garage Rotate Tires $25.00
09/01/05 Joe’s Garage Drain AC $20.00
10/01/05 Al’s Garage Tuneup $100.00
10/01/05 Al’s Garage Replace wipers $11.50
Consider a report that breaks on VRdate with total Cost
in the break footer.
All data is placed in the DETAIL section.
I mark VRDate and Vendor to “SuppressRepeatedValues”
What I WANT is this:
Date Vendor Work Done Cost
08/01/05 Joe’s Garage Oil and Lub $20.10
Change Spark Plugs $50.00
TOTAL: $70.10
09/01/05 Joe’s Garage Rotate Tires $25.00
Drain AC $20.00
TOTAL: $45.00
10/01/05 Al’s Garage Tuneup $100.00
Replace wipers $11.50
TOTAL: $111.50
But what I GET is this:
Date Vendor Work Done Cost
08/01/05 Joe’s Garage Oil and Lub $20.10
Change Spark Plugs $50.00
TOTAL: $70.10
09/01/05 Rotate Tires $25.00
Drain AC $20.00
TOTAL: $45.00
10/01/05 Al’s Garage Tuneup $100.00
Replace wipers $11.50
TOTAL: $111.50
This makes it look like the value of Vendor is NULL for 09/01/05
when it isn’t. Is there a way to tell the report to suppress
repeated values WITHIN a break but always print it at the beginning
of a new break, even if it’s the same as the last break?
The above behavior is in both of the latest releases of R:Base
7.1 and 7.5
