Hi Sami:
The P1 is a nice computer designed for field use (built-in bar code scanner
and GPS). The standard configuration comes with 32 MB of ROM and 64 MB or
RAM and it has one memory expansion slot for 1 SD memory card, the screen is
only 3.5 in, so you are definitely in Pocket R:Base territory as the regular
version will not run on Windows CE. RBTI should be able to verify this
information.
I am very interested in this application, as I will be developing a field
inspection module this fall that will run on a handheld computer as well.

Subject: [RBG7-L] - Panasonic Toughbook P1

What are the pros/cons of running an R:BASE app on a Panasonic Toughbook P1
Handheld PC? This would be for a staff of inspectors who need to sync to an
R:BASE app running on a LAN.

Since the Toughbook runs Windows 2003, would it be comparable to writing an
app like Pocket PC?

Would the user need the multi-user Oterro, or could you write a Pocket PC
app?

If anyone has any experience or insights on this, it would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
Sami Aaron
