Alex:
You can do the same thing in 7.x.
Select the column, right click and select "Object Properties" ( you can also
double click on the field or press the <F11> key)
Select the "Effects" tab at the top.
On the "Default Value" box type "#DUP" (minus the quotes) and it should do
it; repeat for all the columns you want to duplicate.

duplicate the information entered into the next row - thus
saving keystrokes.
