Karen,

Is it a NOTE field or a TEXT field being viewed as a DB Memo?  You can't use the editor to view text fields, just note fields, I believe.

We tried that first thing!  Double-clicking just highlights a bit of the text.  Doesn't work at the customer's site, nor does it work here for me.
