Just exactly what does it save. It does not or at least
I can't get it to "save" the look of any changes I make
when I browse a table.

Marc,

Before saving the Data Browser/Editor "Layout" settings,
make sure that LAYOUT is set to 'ON'.

Here's how to save your layout settings:

01. Start RBG7 or RBG75
02. CONNECT dbname
03. At the R> prompt:
    SET LAYOUT ON
04. Database Explorer | Tables ...

Do what you have to do for a given table while
    Browsing/Editing Data.

    Adjust anything you wish.

05. Database Explorer | Main Menu | Layout

    Click on [Save Layout] option

06. Close the Data Browser/Editor ..

07. Database Explorer | Tables ...

    Browse/Edit the same table ...

Notice the layout settings as defined in Step 04.

Note:

. LAYOUT settings must be set to ON in order to save or
  retrieve your layout settings.

. You may set the LAYOUT settings to ON either in your
  application startup file, RBASE.DAT, RBENGINE.CFG,
  RBENGINE75.CFG or RBENGINE8.CFG files

Hope that helps!

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
