I have a 1978 Trek TX500 sport-touring bike. (Catalog here: http://www.vintage-trek.com/images/trek/TrekMidwest/TrekMidwest.pdf) Seat tube is 56 cm, as is the top tube. Follow the catalog link for the rest of the geometry. It has braze-ons for two bottles, rear brake cables, fenders, seat-stay rack, and downtube shifters. It has above- BB cable guides for the derailleurs. Dropouts are horizontal Suntour.
The bike has a headbadge, but no decals. Paint is dark blue and the lugs are outlined in white. I'd say the paint is in decent condition. The bike was built for 27" wheels so it has very nice clearance with 700c (I ran 35mm studded Nokians with fenders). It has Mafac Racer centerpulls now, but you could use any number of long-reach calipers if you wanted. Here's the spec: Handlebars: 46 cm Nitto Noodles Stem: 12 cm Nitto Technomic. Tape: Red cotton with Velox plugs Brake Levers: Tektro R200 (these are basically new). Headset: Vintage Campagnolo Brakes: Mafac Racer (with Mafac seatpost binder-mounted rear stop) Shifters: Campagnolo friction downtube. I also have a set of Suntour Power Ratchet barcons, if you'd prefer to install those. Seatpost: Generic silver alloy one-bolt. Front derailleur: Shimano 105 Rear derailleur: Suntour XC-Pro long cage BB: IRD sealed 103mm spindle Cranks: 172.5 Sugino Mighty 900 (no logos) 94 BCD with an alloy 46- tooth Salsa outer ring and an alloy 34-tooth inner. Pedals: Shimano silver XT SPDs and MKS platform touring-type (missing one dustcap). Fenders: SKS silver (not installed) Computer: Old Sigma Sport. Works. The Brooks saddle shown is NOT INCLUDED, nor is the light (unless you want to throw in an extra $20--it's a Shimano dynamo hub light). Pictures at my Flickr site: http://flickr.com/photos/andrewkarre/sets/72157611073646101/ If you want to ride it away, I will include an old but reasonably nice set of Wolber 27" wheels with a six-speed cassette. The have alloy rims mounted on Japanese hubs. Mounted with new Vittoria touring tires. I'll include a chain an a generic gel saddle, too. I'd like $375 plus shipping (or pick up in the Twin Cities). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
