Hi- I had a Rally on my brevet bike and it required a fair amount of overshift to change cogs, but I got used to it. Gave me something to focus my attention on during long rides. Like the Nuovo Record I had on a previous bike it shifted marginally but I'm sure it would last for 20 years. I'm building up an '82 Peugeot PF60 and I'll be using a Suntour VGT Luxe that probably cost half as much as the Campy back in the day and I know from experience shifts far better.
