I see over on iBob that Chaser Tech has basically shrugged and said
it's not their problem.

I bought some Berthoud fenders from well known seller of Brooks
saddles last year, and they arrived in a box that looked like it had
been run over. The fenders were in there, undamaged, but the stays and
hardware had escaped through one of the big holes torn in the box. I
called the seller and explained the deal, and I don't think they even
bothered to contact UPS, just sent the missing parts out that day.
That's how you keep customers and a stellar reputation.

The weirdest thing that I ever ran into on eBay was years ago, when I
bought a Shimano derailer for $5. Got an email (this was long before
eBay tried to control all communication, or automated the
transactions) that said the shipping was $3.50, so I sent $8.50 via
Pay Pal. After a couple of weeks, I remembered the purchase, and sent
an email to the seller. It bounced immediately. Went to eBay and found
the seller was no longer registered. His feedback was still all
positive. Hmmm. So then I remembered that I sent the Pay Pal money to
a different email address than the one the seller used to contact me,
which was not uncommon at the time. That bounced, too. So everything
just went away in that two weeks. Neither eBay nor Pay Pal was
interested in investigating any transaction under $25, so I just had
to be happy it was only $8.50. Maybe the guy died, or went into the
witness protection program, who knows?
