Hi Bruce-

Have you tried a 55 Riv. They really do fit quite a bit differently than other
makers bikes due to the low bb and the slacker seat tubes. As an example, in
other bikes that I've owned that are 61-62cm c-t have standover height that is
pretty equivalent to the 63.5 Riv that I ride now. When I ride the Riv a lot
and then switch over to my 62cm Davidson, I feel a great deal higher than on
the Riv. It's pretty noticeable.

Make sure you check the height b/4 you go with 650b.

Enjoy the new bike,

Joe

Subject: [RBW] Riv Build Ideas?
To: [email protected]

Thanks to another list member, an early Waterford era Rivendell frame (with two
forks!) is inbound. It's a 55 +/- in size and while I rode a 57 cm Trek Pro 560
for a couple thousand miles a few years ago, 55 is just a bit too tall for me
in 700 guise. So, I'm approaching this as a 650B conversion. I picked up a
Campy Veloce 130 mm BC road triple (square taper BB). The stock rings are
52/42/30, which may do just fine. The 42 may go to 40 though. It's very
lightweight and pleaseing to the eye. Anyway, I'm soliciting derailler ideas.
What bottom pulling front triple shifters are out there these days? RBW seems
to have gone awy from the Shimano 105 that came on my Ram. I expect that I'll
run 7,8, or 9 cogs, depending on what I find in the way of a wheelset. I have
randoneur bars and
Tiagra brake grips on the shelf, and am thinking this bike will be set up road
standard-ish. Ideas (as well as offers to get your garage shelf items moved to
mine) are welcome.

TIA

Bruce
