Thanks for the responses. When I checked the Sugino website it looked like they were recommending a 110mm. I'll maybe try that. This is the first time I've built up one of my bikes. Well, maybe not the first time, but the first time in years and without a knowledgeable friend supervising. Anyway, being that I don't have that much experience with this stuff I can't tell what looks like a lot of room.
I originally wanted a 48 big ring but that crank set was available at a good price with the 50t. I thought about purchasing a 48t chainring but am hesitant to shell out the extra bones. I've noticed some places sell Sugino rings at a fair price but they are advertised as being without pins and ramps, will they still work fine on a double crank with 8 speed rear?
