Hello,

As I recall in the early single-digit readers and 1996 catalogue,
Grant specified custom guages for his 753 tubing. I think chainstays,
even on the early road standards , were heavier, and I believe longer
butts, especially for the downtubes were used. Early all-rounders and
Mountain expeditions were even sturdier but all 3 used silver-brazed
753 frame tubing and 531 forks until Grant and Waterford temporaily
separated. Your 650B project looks a lot like the bike reviewed in
1996 or so by Garret Lai when Bicycle Guide was still around. Articles
like his and my 1993 X0-1
led to my 1997 A/R purchase.

When you think about it, Rivendells have quite an interesting
pedigree.I hope there will be many more generations..They're all
special.

Regards,
