The Extreme is a great tire but will not be as comfortable on the road as the Supreme or Big Apple. The Extreme is more for dirt and gravel or even moderate off road touring.
In my experience the Big Apple has a comfort advantage over the Supreme of the same size. Arguably, the large Supreme's are more reliable than the Big Apple. There is a Dutch cyclists blogging on crazyguyonabike about his coast to coast U.S. trip (maybe finished by now) on a bike with Big Apples. When I last visited his blog he had made it from Rhode Island to West Colorado without a flat.
